REVISION CARDS - FAST DESIGN FEATURES
GCSE Maths Revision Guides
How are Revision Cards different from
other Maths GCSE Revision Guides ?

We analyse the actual GCSE Maths exam papers
Every example is a typical Maths GCSE 'past paper' question
How could we help you with your revision ?

We use the most memorable methods
We use the fastest approaches, with lots of detail where you need it
How have we done it ?

We have tried to make revising a hard subject easier by using a high quality, multi-feature design and showing the most important information to revise.
We could help you revise more quickly

The Revision Cards difference - fast revision: we cover
topics and questions most likely to appear on the exam
  1. QUESTION: WORKING OUT SYMBOLS
  2. QUESTION / TOPIC: FREQUENCY SYMBOLS
  3. QUESTION: MARKS SYMBOLS
  4. REVISION CARDS: THE CHALLENGE

(1) WORKING OUT SYMBOLS
HOW ARE SYMBOLS USED IN
GCSE MATHS REVISION CARDS ?
Symbols are used throughout Revision Cards as fast,
visual clues to help spot the important facts quickly.
Especially important to look out for is the most popular mistake symbol, so you avoid making that mistake too !
common mistake - avoid !!
correct method - what you need to do
look closely - spot the (small) difference
be careful here !

(2) FREQUENCY (HOW OFTEN) SYMBOLS
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHICH ARE THE
MOST IMPORTANT TOPICS AND QUESTIONS ?
CARD RATING:
At the top of each Revision Card is the star rating for the topic (how often that particular topic is examined).
QUESTION RATING:
Each question has a star rating
(how often that particular type of question is examined).
3 stars: most important topics & questions
- on 3 papers out of 4
2 stars: 2nd most important topics & questions
- on 2 papers out of 4
1 star:
- on 1 paper out of 4
It sounds complicated, but all it means is you prioritise
your revision - revise 3 star Revision Cards
before 2 star and 1 star Revision Cards.

On each Revision Card revise 3 star questions
before 2 star
and 1 star questions.

This ensures revision time is spent as effectively as
possible, by prioritising and revising the most
important exam topics and questions first.

(3) MARKS SYMBOLS
HOW DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY MARKS
TOPICS AND QUESTIONS ARE WORTH ?
See how many marks a particular topic is actually worth, and how many marks a question type is worth.
This helps you decide how to spend your time, knowing how many marks a question is actually worth.
The marks one A4 Revision Card is worth:
Example: when this Revision Card topic is
examined on the exam paper, it is
worth between 3 and 6 marks.
Use this together with the star rating to see how important a topic is.
C grade question - 2 marks
Each question has grade, marks and star rating, so you can see how important the question is.

(4) THE REVISION CARDS CHALLENGE
How are Revision Cards different from
other Maths GCSE Revision Guides ?
There are a lot of revision guides for GCSE Maths - many are too long to use for fast revision (it would take too long to cover everything) or too short (they don't cover enough).

So how do you write a maths revision guide which is truly fast, concise (but doesn't miss out important details), well written, well designed and easy to use?
We set out to write our revision guide for Maths GCSE using all these criteria, AND ALSO using mathematically correct symbols (it is surprising how many don't do this).

AND we wanted to give the exam low-down, the information you really need for the exam, in a fast visual way, without covering the whole syllabus.

AND we wanted to use some really effective approaches
that we hadn't seen used in revision guides before.

AND FINALLY we wanted to make revising manageable, so we wanted to put each topic on 1 (yes ONE !) , A4 card !!

This was our challenge !

It took a lot of design time to get each topic down to the very essential parts that needed to be explained, while giving enough details and keeping it fast.

Our visual symbols help find important features quickly.

Analysing the exam papers means we know the full exam picture.
